Discover past to build the future- International
Human Rights Day
International
Day on
Human Rights is a common day that
we all share, is one of the elements that
unite us as a global community
and that unites us without regard to minority, biological and social traits
that distinguish us.
On
December 10 worldwide is marked International Human Rights
Day. On this day in
1948, the General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The document was developed
in response to the atrocities during the Second World War and is the first international act were
expressed fundamental rights and
freedoms guaranteed to be human beings in the world. During the Holocaust six million people were killed by the Nazis in the years 1933-1945.
The Holocaust is a unique phenomenon in its brutality
extent by cruelty
and premeditated nature
of mass murder.
Nowadays is a moment
of victory over ignorance,
contempt and violation
of human rights, facing humanity
and taking measures imposed to protect human
dignity and worth.
The
Human Rights
Day is
a day of
human solidarity is a day for human rights defenders like our Roma/non-Roma
volunteers and Phiren Amenca member organizations that promote and protect universally-recognised
human rights and fundamental freedoms. They seek the promotion and protection
of civil and political rights as well as the promotion, protection and
attainment of economic, social and cultural rights. They advocate and mobilise
by peaceful means to defend the Roma rights.
